What does trichology involve?

Trichologists are dermatologists specialized in trichology, the science dedicated to the study of hair.

At the García-Legaz Dermatological Institute, we rely on these professionals as the most qualified experts to assess your individual case and design the most effective treatment for you.

Why Does Hair Fall Out?

Different Types of Alopecia

There are six types of alopecia:

The first of these, androgenic alopecia, is the most common and affects mostly (though not exclusively) men.

Fortunately, with early and tailored treatment, it’s possible to slow the progression of this condition and put an end to the discomfort and self-consciousness it causes.

Treatments to Halt Alopecia

The goal: hair preservation and regeneration

At our clinic, we don’t offer a one-size-fits-all solution for alopecia. Instead, we evaluate each case individually to design a tailored plan that works and always delivers the best possible results.

The various treatments can be administered orally or topically and complemented with hair mesotherapy and intralesional medications. Additionally, in certain cases and depending on the type and severity of alopecia, direct application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and other medications into the scalp—such as antiandrogens—may be necessary.

Early and Specialized Diagnosis

Always leveraging the most cutting-edge technology

When a patient comes in, their greatest concern is often hair loss, but it’s possible this isn’t the only issue they’re experiencing. Scalp itching, weakening of the hair shaft, or the appearance of flaking are other signs that may predominate and even change the diagnostic direction.

To ensure our hair treatments are on target, we follow this protocol:

And to reinforce our diagnostic and follow-up accuracy, we use Trichoscan imaging in the clinic—a digital trichoscope that delivers far higher-quality images than traditional methods (up to 140× magnification).

Our goal? To guarantee regeneration and increased hair density so you can feel your best again.
